Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Donald Elvin Conner; 78, entered eternal rest at his residence in Stuarts Draft on June 7, 2016. Born on November 14, 1937, he was the son of Earl Treavy and Della Jane Thompson Conner of Greenville. He retired from Western State Hospital in Staunton after 32 years of service as a Charge Aide. He attended Wilson High School and in 1956, he enlisted in the Navy-USN having served on the USS Saratoga and USS Forrestal CV-59. He was a former member of Augusta Archers, Stonewall Rifle and Pistol Club, and the NRA. His passion was archery, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends. He was very skilled with firearms and ammunition and enjoyed reloading and sharing his knowledge with his sons, grandsons, and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Lorie Ann (Hedrick) Conner. His daughter and son-in-law; Lisha Ella and Steve Johnson of Staunton, sons and daughters-in-law; James Roger (Jim) and Cindy Conner and Montgomery Clinton (Monty) and Barbara Conner of Greenville, Clinton James Wallace Hedrick (Clint) Conner of Marana, Arizona, Preston Lawrence Hedrick Swecker of Stuarts Draft and sonin-law; Raymond Douglas (RD) Clark. His sister; Wanda Argenbright of Greenville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Elizabeth Brooks Conner. His daughter, Donna Adrian Conner Clark. His grandsons; Roger Gilbert Conner, Lesley Warren and Jordan Douglas Clark and his brother-in-law, Jimmy Argenbright. His brothers; Myron and Warren Conner.

One of his many joys were the love of his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; JR (Shannon), Madison and MacKenzie Conner, Damon (Jessica), Logan Lotts, Hayden and Darren Humphries, Shawn (Jeannie), Eva Humphries, Rachel (Dustin), Brantley and Beckett Whitmore, Patrick and Conner Johnson.

He is also survived by his in-laws; Lawrence and Judi Hedrick of Casa Grande, AZ, Rick Hedrick and Julie (Jayne) Thorp of Dallas, TX, Lawrence (Linda) Hedrick of Warrenton, Melanie Smith and Tony (Trish) Hedrick of Stanley, and Evelyn Higgs of Marana, AZ.

He considered his special friends his family and was very fond of Howard and Theresa Chandler (Bubby and Pebbles), Gary and Linda Definbaugh, Tim and Penny Hawse, Harry and Peggy Morelock, and Gerald and Evelyn Harris.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, June 10, from 6:00-9:00 PM at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Steve and Lisha Johnson of 58 Avenue of Trees, Staunton, VA.

Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Saturday, June 11 at 4:00 PM at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, conducted by The Rev. Don Cash.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a memorial contribution in Don's memory to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939.
