Bobby (Bob) Max Brooks

Bobby (Bob) Max Brooks passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the age of 84.

He was born in Guymon, OK on June 24, 1931 to Walter B. Brooks and Lola Wheeler Brooks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine and two brothers Kenneth and Raymond (R.T.), and a precious granddaughter, Shalyn.

Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois McBratney Brooks, a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Al Torrence, sons Larry and wife Bonnie, Stephen and wife Vanessa, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

After attending Oklahoma State, he began his lifelong career as a computer programmer in 1950 at Armour & Company, in Denver, CO. His career included management positions with Samsonite Inc., Capitol International Airways and Averitt Express. His work progressed from the days of punch cards to high tech.

He came from a family of five Methodist preachers and was a lifelong Methodist. He taught Sunday school, was a youth leader, a lay-speaker and held numerous offices in the church including chairman of the board. He sang in the church choir for 60 years. Since moving to the area, he was a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2015 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA.
